BSNL's Rs 249 broadband plan offers 10GB data per day and unlimited calling

State-owned BSNL is stepping up efforts to sustain in the highly competitive Telecom industry. It has introduced a mouth-watering wireline broadband plan under which broadband users will get 10GB data every day, as well as, unlimited calling for as little as Rs 249.

However, there are few caveats you should be aware of before subscribing to the plan. The internet speed is throttled at 2Mbps, and unlimited calling feature can only be availed between 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Nonetheless, calling is unlimited round the clock on Sundays.

The offer is valid until 30th June 2017. If you have any queries or planning to apply for a new BSNL broadband connection, you can dial the toll-free number- 1800 345 1500 and get your questions answered. BSNL also shared full details of the plan on its official Twitter handle.

While ACT and Airtel are offering high-speed connections at affordable prices, BSNL's decision to throttle speeds at 2Mbps sounds irrational. To put in context, the average internet broadband connection speed in India in Q4 2016 is 5.66Mbps. Nevertheless, the offer may come handy for users living in rural areas and people who are yet to be connected to the internet.

For mobile customers, BSNL recently launched a new scheme that offers 2GB data per day and unlimited calling within its network for 28 days at Rs. 339. The customer's account will also get credited with 25 minutes of a free call to other networks every day, and after that, they will be charged 25 paisa per minute.
