Xiaomi touted Mi Max is the new big. Now, the company is prepping up to launch the successor dubbed as Mi Max 2 whose specifications have been spotted on GFXBench.
According to the listing, Mi Max is code-named as Xiaomi Oxygen. Mi Max 2 sports a 6.44-icnh Full HD ( 1080 x 1920 pixels) IPS LCD panel with Gorilla Glass 4 on the top. A brand new Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 626 chipset with octa-core CPU that consists of eight Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz along with Adreno 506 GPU may power the device.
In the storage segment, the listing suggests that the phone packs 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with an option to expand the storage via microSD card upto 256GB. The listing didn't hint about the speculated 6GB version. However, it cannot be entirely ruled out.
On the camera front, the rear camera houses a 12MP sensor with autofocus, face detection, and dual-tone LED flash. The camera can shoot 4K videos at 30fps. It may feature a 5MP selfie snapper on the front. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Xiaomi's customer software layer MIUI on the top.
Previous rumors suggest that Mi Max 2 will be backed by a slightly larger 5000 mAh battery. The device may be priced in the same price bracket as the first Mi Max. The basic model may cost 1499 Yuan, and the cost of the premium variant may go up to 1999 Yuan. The exact launch date of the phone is unknown. Nevertheless, considering the launch of Mi Max in May 2016, we can infer that it could be launched in the second week of May 2017.
